Reading Skill: This week we are working on summarizing. We have worked hard on retelling the story. When they summarize, we want them to only tell the most important details from the beginning, middle, and end. This is a very hard skill for our students so any practice at home would be wonderful!
Math: We are working on different ways of adding. Today we are going to review all of the strategies we have learned to add. Your child should be able to make 10 and add on the extra ones. They should be able to add using their doubles facts. Some of our students need to practice their doubles at home to help them be successful at this adding skill. Also, they can count on to add. Please give them equations at home to show you how they add. If they are still counting by 1 on everything, we need to start pushing them to group and try finding a better strategy to use!
